Ingredients:
- 1 box French vanilla cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Additional mini chocolate chips for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line a cupcake tin with paper liners
In a large mixing bowl, combine the French vanilla cake mix, eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract
Mix until well combined
Stir in the 1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips into the cupcake batter
Fill each cupcake liner 2/3 full with the batter
Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean
Remove the cupcakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
While the cupcakes are cooling, prepare the chocolate chip cookie dough frosting
In a separate mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy
Mix in the vanilla extract
Add the flour and salt, and mix until well combined
Stir in the 1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of milk until the frosting is smooth and creamy
Once the cupcakes are completely cool, pipe or spread the chocolate chip cookie dough frosting onto the cupcakes
Garnish with additional mini chocolate chips as desired
